Robin Hooybergs: 2-day workshop review When I arrived in Berlin into the welcoming arms of Monica & Pol, I lived in a place called “Restriction town”, located in my mind... characterised by its imaginary walls, boundaries, rules... Throughout our time together I was confronted with the results of those self-imposed restrictions, which neither created happiness in my life nor strong work as a photographer. Thanks to the level of comfort Monica and Pol created through their authenticity and full acceptance of who I am, we were able to discuss my personal challenges openly. This workshop isnt about “how to make pictures”. It goes way deeper. Monica and Pol connected to my core. From there, we looked at the set of conditions that blocked my authenticity from flowing, challenged my mind and they then offered me their perspective / way of dealing with situations in work / life... whilst still respecting my own freedom to decide what I want to take with me or not. The Richters really live up to their name. “The Richter scale is a scale of numbers used to tell the power of earthquakes.” Remember that small restrictive town in my head, filled with its large walls? Through the genuine and caring approach of Monica and Pol, the Richters were like a force of nature smashing all of those self-imposed limitations! Looking at the pile of rocks and unserving rubble that is cleared from my mind... I’d say the score on the richters scale was 10/10!! I recommend this two-day workshop to all of you who are ready to connect to your true authenticity and learning to express it in your natural flow and creative work. Besides that the overall experience was great too. My personal needs / values / opinions were greatly respected. After the workshop Monica and Paul have continued to show genuine support and offering me tools / tips I can use. Beautiful humans and life-changing experience! ❤️

Joerg Rockenberger: Martin’s one day photo workshop is an intense exercise with great learning opportunities. First, the initial portfolio review highlights areas for improvement. Then, photographing in the streets of Berlin offers the opportunity to practice the lessons from the morning while Martin continues his coaching. After the tour, you’re asked to curate and edit the photographs taken earlier, and provide the best 5 for further critique. You have about 45 mins for that... :) Martin’s feedback is direct but constructive and polite. There is no sugar coating but also no putting down your work. He shares his experience and knowledge, as a photographer but also as a teacher, freely and without arrogance. Beyond the photo critiques and in-field coaching, there is also the opportunity to ask wide-ranging questions, from his favorite photographers to the difference between travel and street photography, and much more. This workshop is a very valuable and pleasant experience for anyone interested in improving their work. Highly recommended.

jmbara2: I recently travelled to Berlin for some street photography and signed up for Martin’s weekend workshop as I very much liked what I saw in Martin’s photography. I also wanted to use the workshop as an intro to Berlin’s for a few more days of street photography on my own after the workshop. My expectations were exceeded on both counts. I enjoyed Martin’s formal and demanding approach to composition and learned a number of new ways to analyze a scene such as the best head angles for the subjects on one’s composition. I was also lucky to meet some talented photographers who also attended the workshop. Both Martin and the other participants shared their knowledge about Berlin and made the rest of my days in Berlin quite productive.
