Sebastien Fournier: We've been using Sunshine cleaning for over a year and although we've had a few changes of cleaner, and some appointment setting challenges (both to be expected with seemingly small team), overall my wife and I have been incredibly satisfied with the services. We have one year old at home and calendar setting isn't my strongest suite, but the management team have been very responsive and always offered alternative solutions. carlos bs: Booked two weeks in advance. During two days before the appointment (weekend) they changed the cleaner three times. Just after the service (and without anyone else apart from the cleaner having been in the apartment) we realized that one set of keys was missing. Everyone who knows Berlin is familiar with the rate of housebreaking in the city, something that looks more like an epidemy. One week after the keys remain missing so we have obviously changed the lock, new keys, etc. The company has rejected any responsibility, interest in investigating further and has punctually sent me the invoice for a service that I will obviously neither repeat nor recommend. Response: Hi Carlos, I understand this has been an extremely frustrating situation for you. Losing a set of keys is a horribly stressful and worrying thing. You imply in your review that the keys were taken from your apartment, however our cleaner actually followed your tenants instructions and placed the two sets of keys in your postbox after locking the apartment, which you asked us to do at your own risk. Following this your friend could apparently only find one set of keys in the postbox. I believe we have actually been very cooperative in our communication with you. Our cleaner has phoned you and written a step by step account of what he did. In your last email you told us you were submitting a police complaint. I responded that we fully understood you need to follow that process, and of course we will cooperate with any questioning from the police. We did, however, do exactly what was asked of us, we delivered the cleaning service, our cleaner, as requested, placed both sets of keys in your postbox, after which we have no idea what happened to them or why only one set was found. It's obviously a very unfortunate situation. We are very sorry this happened to you, and we truly hope you are able to resolve it the best way possible. We did change your cleaner two times, the first time as the cleaner had a last minute urgent doctor appointment and your booking time could not be changed, and then because the replacement cleaners' child had a very high fever the night before, all of which was communicated to you at the time. Ashley Mantha-Hollands: I’ve tried to book a cleaning service twice now since all the reviews are fantastic. Both times unfortunately they’ve had to cancel because of lack of staff. This last time however was quite frustrating as despite sending a booking request weeks ago, they only got back to me 3 days before the day I had requested which doesn’t give me any time to book another service! I also sent an email asking about alternative dates and never heard back…

We do let customers know when we receive the request that the booking is not confirmed, but that we are looking for a cleaner and will be in touch with an update. We always try our best to inform people with plenty time if we don't have someone, but this last few weeks we've been quite overwhelmed with booking requests and it's true that your booking unfortunately fell through the cracks. I'm very sorry that negatively impacted you. We're always trying to improve the service, so we definitely take your feedback seriously. We are a relatively small team and the demand is high, and although we are doing our best to expand, it takes time to recruit and train the right people for our company. John Sheppard: I recently booked and was charged at the higher rate for an 8 hour moving out 'deep clean' focused on kitchen, bathroom and windows after the previous people moved out of the apartment. What I received was a superficial, incomplete clean for which I complained, providing photographic evidence and received a partial refund for. The cleaners had also been late and taken personal calls which if they'd done a good job wouldn't have been an issue but it was just not up to a professional standard. Entire drawers and cupboards went missed, approximately 40% of the kitchen (too many cupboards apparently) and the base units left untuoched thick with dust. Handles were left dirty and facias marked with food. I provided every cleaning product requested, even making a special trip to the supermarket and told they had everything required to do the job however at the end I was shown a dirty oven and told they didn't have the right kind of sponge! Seriously the time to have said something was at the start of the clean not at the end. Regarding the bathroom the sinks were not checked for hair (deep clean?) and the tile grouting still had black and orange mould. It seems that they have no idea what a 'deep clean' should even look like so basically we ended up cleaning the place after them - even having paid for 8 hours of deep cleaning. I wouldn't use again because of the low standards and unreliability but the manger told me I should look elsewhere in future anyway! Not sure what I'd done to deserve that other than book, pay them on time and point out that I had not received what I paid for.... Low standards and poor customer service = no repeat business. Edit: the apartment was completely empty. You didn't have to do floors or walls or anything in the bedrooms. Just kitchen, bathroom and windows. How can you struggle to get that done in 8 hours of deep cleaning? One cleaner did ask me for more stuff to do as they finished the bathroom so your argument does not hold water. I'm busy working so I can't supervise them, that's your job. I'm expecting a professional cleaning service to do a professional job. You didn't deliver and neither did you visit at any point before, during or even after the clean once the complaint had been made so you have no idea what the cleaners did or did not do during the 8 hours charged and paid for. Still, you don't accept that this is your fault and apologise seeking to deflect the blame away from yourself and onto the customer. This is just as bad as the poor cleaning job.
Response: Hi John, I'm sorry you were unhappy with the cleaning and customer service you received. We did take your complaint seriously at the time, offering a 20% discount which you accepted was sufficient to compensate you. I agreed that from your photos that the kitchen had not been done to the standard we expect and based your discount on that, you didn't mention any other areas such as the bathroom which you were unhappy with at the time. Prior to the booking we communicated about the booking length. You made a booking for 4 hours for a move out clean. I said we estimated 14 hours for a full move out clean of a property your size. You said you only wished the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and windows to be done. For that I recommended 10-12 hours of work. You first agreed, and later told me that 6-8 hours was enough as you planned to do some of the cleaning yourself. Our cleaners really struggled with the 8 hours they had, it didn't seem like any of the work had been done by you and they weren't able to do everything in the time to the standard we expect. Our time estimates are based on years of experience, and unfortunately if customers book less than we recommend they are often disappointed. We give clear information about the cleaning products and equipment needed to help us to do a good job, including a comprehensive list of suggested items. As you were having the oven cleaned I emailed you 5 days before the booking saying "It really helps the cleaner if you can make sure to provide a quality oven cleaner, plus some good metal sponges for scrubbing, and an oven scraping tool if you can find one." When the cleaners arrived they had to wait for you to go out to the supermarket before they could start cleaning as there were no cleaning cloths and some products were missing. There were also no metal sponges provided so the cleaner did struggle to clean the oven properly with the sponge provided. We try to give the best possible service we can, but we can only do that if our cleaners have sufficient time, and have the right materials to do the job well. Following your complaint and our attempt to resolve that with you, you continued to inquire about further bookings for a particular situation that we were not able to serve. I'm sorry once again you were disappointed, I do wish you all the best and hope you find a service that is suited to your situation. Thanks, Kate

thedabaraxx: Terrible cleaning for a high price. I’ve been talking for about a week with the office to schedule a cleaning while I was abroad. They were nice and responsive. Too bad that whatever we’ve decided hasn’t been taken under any consideration by the person who “cleaned”. I was told that 2 hours for a deep cleaning wasn’t enough. My apartment was already decently clean, and it’s less than 50 sq. The only reason why I payed €40 per hour, was to clean the oven.Anyway, I trusted their judgment and I said that I would have paid for 3 hours. Again, I was ready to pay a “deep cleaning” cost for a regular cleaning of a small already clean apartment, plus the oven and the mattress. I also asked if the cleaner could have kept the keys and they said yes. I was over the moon! Then the reality... My friend went to open the door. The cleaner was late. He had no clue about the keys. So I had to figure something out last minute. He called my friend back because he couldn’t figure how to open the water. He left after two hours. Because of their lack of communication and professionality I lost a tenant. Here comes the pics that I received from him. I asked for a refund and they sent me pics of what was cleaned for €80. Since I clean my house by myself I can tell that what I paid wasn’t worthy. Plus they had the guts to tell me that 2 hours wasn’t enough. I suggested they checked the emails where I said that I was up to pay for 3 hours, because I needed a clean apartment. If you charge €40 per hour per person you need to be the best ! Evelyn Parh: This was my first experience with Spic & Span and I was satisfied with the service from the provider and the cleaning agent, especially as it was also the first experience of the cleaning agent. Knowing that it requires time to understand and adjust to cleaning any new place, I was pleased with the effectiveness and efficiency of the cleaner. My initial appointment was modified directly by the cleaning agent and this was done efficiently and smoothly with no hitches. As it was my first experience, I contacted the service provider a few times and realized it is faster/easier to communicate with them via online chat than via phone for example (but that was after a few frustrated call attempts as well as confusing online chat attempts, before realizing just a little wait gains you an actual person to chat with online). Overall, I would give this a 4.8 star rating if possible but there are only options for single star ratings! For the costs, I found this a bit on the high side (for the one off cleaning), and I have to say it was disappointing to realize that "regular" cleaning only qualifies for at least one-month durations. It would be good if one could choose for example 6-8 week durations for such regular cleaning, depending on the needs, and still get a fair deal compared to the one-off cleaning - this goes as a recommendation which I hope would be captured. I found it excellent to have the possibility of getting English speaking cleaners in Germany, which facilitates communication for non-German speaking persons. I look forward to using this service in the future, but probably for one-off cleaning every second month (as I do regular cleaning myself and just require deep cleaning every now and then). This is something that could be considered to be offered by the service, something in-between deep cleaning and regular cleaning). Overall, many thanks for this excellent services and keep up the good work, while taking into account the useful feedback/suggestions provided by your service-users. Service: Standard cleaning

Tyson Chihaya: We had one of their people clean our house, and I have to say I’m very disappointed. The person they sent did not do a good job of cleaning, here’s a list of some things that we had problems with: - She arrived 20 minutes late. - She did not thoroughly clean the toilets (particles left) - She wanted to dust the rest of the house with the rag that she used to clean the toilet, we had to stop her and ask her to use a clean one. - She left the bathrooms messier than they were when she arrived. - She did not dust all of the surfaces, she missed many areas. The surfaces that she did dust were not done with care, there were spots missed. - She did not clean our glass coffee table, which had fingerprint and drink stains on it. - She did not clean behind any furniture as we asked her to do. - After she was done vacuuming and mopping the floor there were still crumbs and other residue remaining. - She did not tidy up anything, she left everything where it was. - She did not put any of the cleaning supplies, mop or vacuum cleaner away when she was done. - She left a wet rag and a soaking wet sponge on our oiled wood sideboard. If we had not caught it quickly, it would have resulted in permanent damage. After this we had to re-clean the entire flat. This service (for home cleaning) is twice as expensive as their competition (Helpling and Book-A-Tiger for example) and the results that we experienced were actually worse. I’m attaching a couple of pics showing how she left the house. We’d already cleaned up most of the stuff she left lying around when I took these but hopefully this will give you an idea. Four days later they called me offering to send someone to "finish the job". When I explained that we had already cleaned the house again, they told me that they couldn't offer me anything else.

Linda Hillmann: I can not recommend this cleaning company. I asked for a deep clean after a tenant moved out of my apartment, so there were lots of things to be done, from general cleaning to windows, bathrooms etc. I was really disappointed when I saw the result of it and I wonder what’s they’ve done for 7h in my apartment. The windows are all greasy and, for some reason, they decided to not to clean my bathroom at all. I was then talking to three different people over days which was annoying, I got 25€ back but would still never book this company again.
Response: Good afternoon. Cleaning the seams is an additional service, it was not ordered. As you can see in the photo, we did not clean behind the washing machine, this is your claim – but we do not move furniture and appliances and do not clean behind washing machines. Mateusz Michalak: I was very unpleasantly surprised by the quality of service that CleanWhale provided to me. As you can see on the photos parts of the apartment are still dusty and dirty (even though I explicitly ordered additional deep-cleaning services) and one window in particular looks worse after cleaning than it did before, like it was wiped with a very dirty cloth! I would like to get my money back, because this is unfinished work. Very unprofessional. Update: CleanWhale reminds me in their response that I'm too late with my complaint. That's right, I submitted it 2 weeks after the cleaning took place, so you can only take my word for it that the apartment hasn't been used during that time. All in all, to anybody who wants to use this company - you must check if everything is ok immediately once the cleaning is done. Rose Longhurst: I used this service because I wanted something environmentally friendly and professional - a real deep clean, including oven and windows etc. Pros: the person they sent was great - worked constantly for 6.5 hours without any break. The staff all speak English which is helpful as my German is poor. Cons: considering that I had explained in advance the size of our home and my intentions for the clean, I was surprised when they only sent one person, who then had to clean extremely quickly and without a pause to cover the job. I'm not sure this is fair - he didn't seem to have any idea of the scale of the job when he arrived, so had to work very intensively without a break, yet I can't imagine he's seeing very much of the 200 Euro fee we were charged. Also, I'm not sure what is exactly 'environmentally friendly' about this service. He used our cleaning products (perhaps he bought some of his own, but I didn't get a vibe that anything was any different to normal cleaning services.) In summary, if (like me) you need a quick, English-speaking cleaner, and you are not price sensitive (200 Euro for a days' cleaning seems expensive yet fair, depending on how much the actual cleaner himself is getting - we tipped heavily just in case), then this may be fine for you. connor quinn: Booked 5.5hrs for a cleaning service for my 105sqm appartment for 1330 on wednesday the 16th of May 2018. By 1415 the cleaning person hadnt shown up, no phone calls, no notification I am just left in the dark until I spend an hour trying to figure out what is happening. When I finally got a solution with them they sent a cleaner for 1800. She arrived but was not able to to communicate in english even though the website said all their people can. She also only brought paper towels for supplies and had to use my soap and crappy vaccum even though they advertise they bring their own equipment. So I try to communicate what needs doing, she said she will be there untill 2100-2200 and I step out for a meal. I come back at 2015 and she is gone and only 2 rooms are done with minimal clean up. The other 3 rooms and hallway is left alone. Now the real mess begins. Obv I am not happy about paying 150e for 90 min of cleaning work. We leave a message on their answering machine. Next day no call back. Then we call the next day and talk to a costumer service agent to says she ll have the chef call us. Again no call. I get a 57e refund so now I am paying 100e for 90 min of work done with my own supplies and equipment. Obv I am not satisfied. Basically stay away from these people. You are much better off paying some random person off of craigslist or the like 10e/hr rather then 30e/hr with close to no customer service. They advertise professional service with professional supplies, prompt service if there is a problem and multilingual staff. This could not be farther from the truth. This site is a scam.

For almost 100m2, people are given 4 hours of time, meaning they get 40 euros, the company pocket 100 euros! In addition, it is impossible to thoroughly clean the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, guest toilet, living room and 4 bedrooms + staircase in this time! Also, no professional cleaning products were brought as promised, such as preparation for parquet or something disinfecting for the bathroom or for chrome fittings! I had to clean it afterwards every time, remove limescale stains, the vacuuming wasn't good either...I won't hire the company again! I can't recommend the company any more and the colleagues who still work in the company and are just as dissatisfied as I am, I can only advise not to hope anymore, but to quickly look for something else because nothing has changed for years.

Daniel Mesonero: We signed a contract with them last summer and have had incredibly poor service. The cleaning has been very sloppy, the cleaners have on occasion thrown the dirty water out of the window rather than down the drain, plus been very irregular in when they actually show up. The communication with the back office has also been incredibly poor with people constantly changing and neglecting your emails. Even the final key handover when we canceled the contract, they managed to miss. I can under no circumstance recommend this service, and I am really sceptical about their 5-star reviews from other people.
