Basel Adams: I have been to Cityskills twice through Urbansport and unfortunately had a very horrible experience. I was constantly bullied by the trainer (the founder) and he threatened to kick me out 3 times. He tried all the time to find some absurd reasons to criticize and discriminate me so that I would not come anymore. I found the hall nice, had a lot of desire to do Krav Maga and became good friends with the others. Too bad it went that way!!!

Adam Musial-Bright: The dojo is very nice and clean. The Krav Maga training is well structured: warmup, function exercise, repeating last sessions technique and a new ones, drilling and sparring (for members only due to injury prevention - wise decision). Especially the controlled sparring is a really controlled and educational and it is not a fight - which are two different things. The dojo floor is build up of mats the training is more forgiving for your joints. Also, it gives the opportunity to learn falling and throws and ground fighting safer - this part is to be seen, when we arrive there in the curriculum. Sylvain, the trainer himself, is explaining well and always listening to questions. Also while learning techniques he always walks, observes and checks the students for proper movement mechanics and gives advises and corrections. Overall well structured training and pleasant, ego free atmosphere.

Thargor Gardner: Great training. Fitness, Technique, Stress-Testing, Ground, Sparring. The instructor is very good at making hard but safe training appropriate to the students ability. Highest IKMF qualification in Berlin (afaik).

Idan Nesher: I was exactly 2min late and that is only cause there is no "city skills" on the many many buildings in the courtyard where this training takes place and the sign on the door even says "aikido" but the instructor didn't let me in and didn't even bother to explain why. Waste of time overall.

For the monthly fee, I can train all week long at all locations across the city. So I can combine the training with work, family etc. The trainers are all nice, personable and highly competent. It is also great that the group is respected, everyone understands each other and there is no room for ego trips. Constant trainings of the trainers and a manageable group size make Krav Maga Instinct and the Instinct Academy Berlin my favorite among the Krav Maga schools

Andreas Kovacs-Buranzis: Top training for those who want to learn self-defense techniques and get fit! Varied, demanding and funny! The hall in Schöneberg is also spacious and offers the best conditions.

Martin Krutzfeld: Summary: - Training is only an hour - non-strenuous technical training - Trainer seems dispassionate, because a lot just touched on - no clear, loud, clear communication - Trainer kicks me out because of a mistake (see below), but then lets me continue training (half fulled bs) - 40€ not worth it The mixed training (there is otherwise only women-only) consisted of almost an hour. This was structured into warm-up, technique, and freer exercises. Warming up was a bit of mobilization and a few strength exercises. The technique exercises were simple blocks, punches and kicks. There were also group exercises. Techniques were presented, first slowly alone, then practiced with a partner and then used more freely. That was okay. The trainer does not train and is not involved, or does not make himself available as a training partner (not even on request). The coach also doesn't introduce himself or greet the newcomers (almost all five were newbies). All in all, there was a complete lack of passion, an open nature and the club feeling. In addition, I had the feeling that the training is more geared towards women. I found all of this very bad. The trainer speaks a mixture of semi-fluent English and German and unfortunately does not give clear, loud instructions on what to do. I think that's very important in a sport where you can injure yourself. Now for a very negative experience: Although we were three men and two women, initially I was supposed to train with a woman. Since I am an absolute beginner in martial arts, but have had experience in mixed team sports with a lot of physical contact for several years, I was very careful at first. The trainer instructed me to try to hit my partner correctly, only to have moments later signaled that I should try slower. In another exercise, we were to practice a "realistic" street scenario and I was to tackle (push and punch) my training partner as well. Unfortunately, when I did this, she fell down (very easily), and the trainer attacked me and threatened if I resisted again, I would be kicked out. Such an announcement came out of nowhere. My training partner talked soothingly to him, but of course I didn't want to hurt anyone! So I asked him to train with him (so I have someone I can rely on not to hurt anyone) whereupon he directly (probably due to a misunderstanding) ordered me to leave. He said if I want to fight him I can go. It's not clear to me why I was actually allowed to finish the training, but then I looked for the men - which would have been his job right from the start. We then tried to clarify the issue, but he insisted on his opinion. In my opinion, the problem was that the coach didn't want to take full responsibility for the training - we were all newbies and he should have shown us more what to do. The stretching was then also pretty half fulling, arms, back, calves. I'm more used to it from hobby trainers in the jugger area (!) - but the training lasts 3 hours, the newcomers are welcomed and tempted - but that's almost free of charge.. All in all: If a self-defense trainer isn't able to de-escalate a situation and deal with me as a willing total newbie in any way other than throwing me out because of a small mistake, I can't perceive that as competent.
